Tier 0 – Nearly Normal

It’s 6.15am, pitch black outside and that’s before the clocks change tomorrow. Saturday morning and I could be lying in, instead I’m keeping the bread machine company as it whirs and wobbles. I’ve gone for a peppermint tea when really I wanted a coffee, which means I can get one a little later!

The wind has got up, which will be stripping the trees of their amazing colours and I’m pondering how to face into the last 9 weeks of the year as the half term holiday comes to an end and the days become shorter and shorter.

To add into the pondering we are still in a strange kind of loch down here in the UK where it’s hard to know what is coming next instruction wise. I’m trying to stay away from the news as a way of controlling my mental state but it’s hard. There’s mention of a 5 tier system in Scotland, cited to come into place from the 2nd November and I’ve no idea what that will mean travel wise.

I can thoroughly recommend taking up podcasts or audio books and walking as solace. Getting out into the day light when you can.   1. HI EC. It’s been way too long since you’ve stopped by for a cup. You should add cooking to your list of ways to stay sane and deal with the isolation we are all dealing with. You have some great skills there and I, for one, have missed you sharing about your culinary adventures. So, will you be around again next weekend? I hope yes.

  2. We’re still practicing isolation in our home. We wrote to family this week and told them that we’re canceling holidays (thanksgiving and Christmas) this year as per our doctor’s suggestion. It’s just not worth the risk. I do try to sit in the sun as much as I can. Moved my desk to it’s winter location in front of the window so while I’m writing, corresponding, etc. I can benefit from the sun. I try to avoid more than the early morning news these days, too. Just watch to get weather then unplug. Hope you have a great week! 🙂

    1. Moving to the window is a great idea. Having to work from home for the last 6 months I’ve shuffled my room around a few times to get it just right. I can’t face doing it again. The holidays are going to be hard, I hope you are able to connect to them digitally.

  3. You take care of yourself, there! My husband and I are contemplating what might happen next, where we live. During the past 24 hours, we have received news of three people in our “volunteer activities” circles that are ill with the covid-19 virus, and one is hospitalized in serious condition. Quite happy that we have been keeping close to home. It will be good get past this, whenever that might happen.

    1. It really is a worrying time, we have two boys at school and as much as we stay take care and stay safe I’m sure the inevitable will happen….it’s just the uncertainty that is constantly there. I know it will pass and we will get through this. Thanks for saying hello.

  5. Great to hear from you! We turn our clocks back on Sunday and I’m not looking forward to darkness at 4pm. But.. I always tell myself – the days start to get longer after the winter solstice on 12/22. It will be here before we know it.

    1. I have enjoyed the hour of daylight being earlier and manged to get out before starting work which has been a bonus. The solstice will be here before we know it!
