It’s Saturday already, it’s come round so quick. I’m back from the morning messages and a simple light rye loaf with blue cheese for lunch. It’s time for a post lunch coffee and the weekendcoffeeshare.
I’m gearing up for painting the porch, it’s a small affair, a long over-due job probably not been touched in 20 years. I can understand why though, a hotch potch of corners, nooks and crannies. The meter is there for the electric, the fuse box and coat hooks. It’s going to be fiddly.
I’m off the Saturday cooking duty as a consequence; which is a little disappointing, at the same time nice to be cooked for….although that is the case most days! I enjoy the weekend spot and the routine of producing something new.
The Guardian today, had various recipes for lunch time cooking whilst at home. I cannot see myself going anywhere near them given the amount of time between online meetings. Where one meeting ends and the next one starts with the touch of the screen on the iPad. I am taken by the roast chicken legs and radicchio (tomorrow nights tea). Then there is the easy weeknight root vegetable fitters and slaw with Sausages….probably Monday’s tea.
TV has so much going on at the Moment. I’m late to the Mandalorian, and caught up quickly, about to start the next series (no spoilers please) with the youngest. Star Trek Discovery, my guilty pleasure just keeps giving…and nobody is interested in the house but me. Then the BBC has got His Dark Materials an adaptation of Philip Pullman’s trilogy and the whole family seems to appear for the Sunday sit down which is nice.
It’s time to start making the fruit cakes if you wish to feed them in time for Christmas, another thing that’s come round quick. The smell lingers in the kitchen for hours….a smell that always takes you by surprise, but right back in time to my grandma’s kitchen.
The #WeekendCoffeeShare is an informal weekly link-up hosted by Eclectic Alli that serves as weekly heart beat and sort of of a mind-dump. Helps me reflect on my week, with a list of achievements, thoughts and rambles normally whilst drinking a beverage probably listening to music.
If you ever want to chat about Mando or Disco, I’m your guy. (And while we’re on the topic, you should seek out Star Trek: Lower Decks. It’s so much fun!)
Just had to look up Lower Decks……and raggghhh not in the UK yet. One day I might figure out how to set up a VPN, but only when I run out of stuff!
Gosh, I’m so behind. I don’t know any of these shows!
I hope the painting went well. I was never good at that! Happy weekend to you 😊
Thanks for saying hello Dinah, Painting all done…… for now!
Wonderful EC, You juxtaposed great mental smells with painting. Painting almost anything that did not move (and a few that did) was how I got myself and new bride through college. I even stood up and ran one company for a few years and to this day sympathize with anyone trying to reach all those nooks and tight little holes without painting over a utility meter or window corner. It all too easily becomes more than a job but a calling. Should you get a free few minutes and desire some college painting flavored entertainment, I invite you to relive with me a memory of one such college job that became one of the richest memories I have of the period. But you’ll have to hold on to the last few paragraphs to hear why it is so memorable and why I am so happy to be here today and able to offer anyone a story. Here’s the link if I’ve managed to tempt you. I promise a smile or two at least and perhaps a real good laugh if I’ve done my job correctly.

I wasn’t particularly hungry when I sat down to catch up on our coffee shares, but you fixed that and now I must figure out how I’m going to both get some writing done and make myself something wonderful to eat as both on my girls (sadly, our boys are out of the house and now living elsewhere) are still fast asleep and are likely to stay that way for a few more hours.
Thanks for the visit.
Thanks GW…I’ll be over in a few mins to check in on the ship tanks
I hope the weather cooperates for your porch painting. Thank you for the coffee share. Have a great week ahead!
All good, thankfully the porch work was in doors and now we’ve had the front door finally replaced.
I am a Mandolorian fan as well, and, surprisingly, my husband joins me. Go figure.
Just love the whole take on the comedy, the scenery and feel with the music, just great entertainment.
I have never made fruit cake but it is totally a Christmas thing that makes me think of my grandparents. My boys saw it on a cooking show and would like to try it so I am going to take the easy route and buy it from the store. If they like it we will experiment from there.
Great coffee post, thanks for sharing.
There are so many variations, as a child I hated the stuff as an adult though I can’t get enough. My boys also seem to love the stuff. I have got my eyes on a chocolate recipe, will let you know how it goes.
